Mattress and conversion kits:
Each Leander cot has its own mattress requirements and conversion options, so check what you’ll need before purchasing.
- Classic Cot - Its oval shape requires a matching Leander cot mattress. Standard rectangular mattresses won’t fit correctly.
- Luna and Linea Cots - Choose a mattress that matches the specific cot size. You can explore the Leander collection for matching mattresses and other nursery essentials.
- Classic junior bed conversion - The Junior Bed Extension Kit and Mattress Extension are sold separately, so include these additional items in your budget if you plan to convert the cot later.
Working with a smaller nursery? Check each cot’s external dimensions to make sure it fits your available space. If you’re looking to furnish the rest of the room, explore the Luna collection and Linea collection for coordinating nursery furniture.
The Leander Classic Cot and Its Five Stages
The Leander Classic is designed to adapt as your little one grows, from those early newborn days to a junior bed for the years ahead. Here’s how each stage works and when you might make the change.
Stage 1: Newborn days
Start with the cot base in its highest position while your baby is still small and not yet mobile. This makes it easier to reach in and lift your bub out.
Stage 2: When your baby becomes mobile
Once your baby starts rolling, pushing up or becoming more mobile, lower the base according to the manufacturer’s instructions to keep the cot suitable for their stage of development.
Stage 3: The first step towards a toddler bed
When your child is ready to get in and out independently, remove the designated rail section as instructed. This creates an opening while retaining the other sides.
Stage 4: An open bed
The cot can then be converted into a low, open bed by removing the remaining sides and high ends as directed.
Stage 5: A junior bed for growing kids
When your child needs a larger bed, the Classic can be extended into a junior bed using a separate extension kit and mattress extension. It’s designed to be used up to around 7 years.
Follow Leander’s instructions when adjusting the cot, and check that each configuration is suitable for your child’s age and stage of development.
Completing Your Nursery with Leander
Start with the Leander cot, then build around it with coordinating furniture from the same collection. Dressers, change tables and change mats can help create a cohesive look as your family’s needs change.
For the finishing touches, the Luna and Linea cots can also be paired with a matching canopy rod and canopy, bringing everything together in a nursery that feels thoughtfully put together and right at home.
