Running Prams
A "running pram" is a stroller designed for jogging or running with your baby or toddler. Most prams would be suitable for a light jog around the park for babies over 6 months. For more serious running, there is the 3-wheel option —have a few key features that make it safer and more comfortable for both the child and the runner:
- Three wheels: They typically have three large wheels (one in the front, two in the back) for better stability and smoother movement over uneven surfaces.
- Locking front wheel: The front wheel can usually be locked in place to prevent it from swiveling, which helps keep the pram steady at higher speeds.
- Suspension system: Many running prams include a suspension system to absorb shocks from bumps or rough terrain, making the ride more comfortable for the child.
- Safety harness: They come equipped with a secure five-point harness to keep your child safely strapped in.
- Handbrake and wrist strap: Some models have a handbrake for better speed control and a wrist strap to keep the stroller from rolling away if you lose your grip.
- Lightweight frame: The construction is often lighter than a standard stroller so it’s easier to push while running.
People use running prams to combine exercise with childcare, letting them go for a jog while bringing their little one along. They're especially popular with parents who want to stay active without having to find separate time for workouts.
